NuWool Wallseal

National Fiber's NuWool Wallseal is a high quality, self-supporting cellulose insulation for use in spray applications for exposed walls, primarily in new construction.  Wallseal can also be used as loose fill for blowing caps in attics and in dense-packing ceiling cavities.
NuWool Wallseal is composed of:

  • Over-issue newsprint (yesterday's unsold newspapers), which is the cleanest and highest quality paper available
  • Boric Acid, a highly effective fire retardant
  • Board Defense, an EPA registered fungicide, which protects against the growth of fungi
  • A small amount of a light white mineral oil for dust control

Our NuWool cellulose insulation complies fully with CPSP standard HH-I-515E; 16CFR 1209; and ASTM C-739. It is made from cellulosic fibers derived primarily from recycled, over-issue newsprint.  This, along with hand sorting, virtually eliminates plastic and trash from our insulation, making it cleaner, less dusty, and more installer friendly.  None of these fibers are sourced directly from wood.
NuWool engineered cellulose is only available through National Fiber's certified installers.  The NuWool system 1600 truck with proprietary equipment is required for low moisture spray.  A nozzle with spray tips is attached at the end of the 3" hose.  These spray tips creates an atomized mist through which the insulation is blown and driven into the wall cavity.  The moisture picked up in this process activates the natural starches in the cellulose and enables the insulation to stick in place in the open stud cavity.  A stud-scrubber is then used to trim the surface of the insulation flush with the face of the adjoining studs.  The freshly sprayed wall is slightly damp to the touch and can normally be sheet-rocked the next day.

All of the physical characteristics of our NuWool cellulose insulation, including fire retardancy, are tested and monitored on a regular and random basis by Underwriters Laboratories, a certified third party testing service, and the NuWool Wallseal bag is labeled with these test results.
